FOODIE FRIDAY: How To Cut A Mango

I used to peel my mangoes and then cut all of the flesh off – no more! This is THE SIMPLEST, fastest, easiest way to cut a mango and it makes it super easy to eat. Enjoy!

Directions:

Start with a serrated edge knife. Be careful that the knife doesn’t slip from your hands.

Slice the fattest part off (the cheek) on both sides of the pit.

Use a smaller paring knife to cut parallel lines into the cheek….

…and then perpendicular lines.

Flip the mango inside out and voila!

You can then cut the pit out and trim around the pit and the skin to get the rest of the fleshy part of the mango.

Take it a step further and you can make mango purée for my “Spicy Mango Lemonade” recipe with a Vitamix.

Simply put the mango flesh directly into the Vitamix, use the stick to mash it into the blade. When done, remove the mango, add water if needed. Then put water into the Vitamix and clean the blender by running it on high – voila! Simple. Here’s a link to my favorite kitchen gadgets including the Vitamix (with coupon codes for free shipping!) – “Malika’s Favorites: In The Kitchen” – click HERE for the full specs.
