TAHITI: Day 2 – Recipe for perfectly burnt rice

Jumping for joy

Ingredients:

1. Wake up early for a trip around the island of Tahiti.        pier-tahiti

2. Stop at Paea to visit the site where Kaimi’s great-grandmother lived in the 1920′s. end-of-road-tahiti

3. Get a “tour” from a local Tahitian man who takes us down the road along great-grandma’s old property to tell us stories passed down through the generations. He knew her name and told us what happened to the property over the years… chicken skin! At the end of the road there is a water basin that was built by my husbands ancestors. The bamboo plants on the hill were planted by them too. The old Tahitian man tells us “I dreamt the family would come back to this place”… and put us all in tears. picnic

4. Stop for a picnic in Papeari where the Musée Gauguin is located (complete with background music by Manu Boyd).
