Hey everyone! Earlier this month I was able to work with the Travel Channel on a show called “Top Ten Locals List” – it was such a blast! Soooo how did it all come about? A friend recommended me to the host who was choosing between a few people – something I did not know at the time. lol I spoke to him – Shane – over the phone and we just clicked. I’m kind of an “idea person” so I was just going with a stream of consciousness with ideas I had for the shoot, who would be in each segment and how we could schedule it. I think I was a little overwhelming at first! In the end he chose to work with me as the host… I suppose he probably felt like he didn’t have a choice really once I started producing things before even being hired!! ha ha!
The Crew!
Over the next few weeks we went back and forth producing the segments, scheduling people/activities and writing the script. I was really looking forward to meeting Shane! He’s a daredevil though so I was a little afraid of some of the activities we had in store for us. The “Top 10 Locals List” we ended up with was actually more than 10 things that will be edited down based on what the footage looks like. Here is what we ended up shooting, in no particular order… (you’ll have to watch the show for the good stuff!)

10. Dirt Biking
11. Helicopter Flight
12. Waimea Bay & Eddie Aikau’s Legacy
I’ll blog about each of these over the next few weeks. Each was an adventure of its own! Our shoot was blessed with unbelievably good weather, perfect waves, no traffic or scheduling snafus and we genuinely got along really great! It might have been the full moon but we were also lucky to see more wildlife than I’ve ever seen before in a 2-day period – a monk seal, butterfly, spinner dolphins and even a shark (not counting the shark dive tour)… what a fantastic journey! I had a blast and can’t wait to see the result! … Life sure is swell.
