This recipe is a twist on candied sweet potatoes! If you like to have a sweet dish this will certainly satisfy your sweet tooth.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/3 cups packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 lbs ʻUlu (breadfruit)

Materials:
Steamer (I use a pasta steamer so that I can put several ulu in at once)

2-qt baking dish

Small saucepan

Sharp knife

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Peel the skin off of your ʻulu with a sharp knife. Keep it wet, the ʻulu is super sticky. Cut the ʻulu in half lengthwise and then rough chop into chunks. The ʻulu we got did not have seeds, if yours does, scoop ‘em out. Put the ʻulu into the steaming basket and steam the ʻulu for 20 min or until a knife pokes through easily.

Put the ʻulu into the baking dish. In a small saucepan combine the remaining ingredients, cook and stir until mixture boils. Pour over ʻulu and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Stir to get sauce on the ʻulu. Serve immediately and eat all of it. The leftovers are not as good. lol *I like to make an extra batch of the syrup so that you can pore more on the ʻulu if you so please.*
